Calhanoglu's agent dismisses Galatasaray links, affirms player's Inter commitment
Hakan Calhanoglu's agent has categorically denied any past or present negotiations with Galatasaray, stating the Inter Milan midfielder is happy and focused on his current club. Gordan Stipic, speaking to journalist Fabrizio Romano, sought to clarify the persistent transfer speculation surrounding his client, insisting there has never been a concrete inquiry from the Turkish giants. Calhanoglu remains under contract with the Serie A leaders until the summer of 2027.
Stipic explicitly addressed the recurring rumours, stating that no talks took place either last summer or in the January transfer window. He emphasized that Calhanoglu is settled both in Italy and with the Nerazzurri, describing the player's commitment to the club's ongoing Scudetto challenge as his primary focus. According to Stipic, the 31-year-old is fully concentrated on achieving success with Inter this season.
The agent's comments provide significant clarity on the player's future amid ongoing conjecture linking him with a return to his native Turkey. Calhanoglu has been a pivotal figure for Inter since his controversial free transfer from rivals AC Milan in 2021, evolving into one of Europe's most accomplished deep-lying playmakers. His current form has been instrumental in Inter's commanding position at the top of Serie A.
This firm denial from his representative effectively closes the door on immediate speculation regarding a move to Galatasaray. The context of the player's contract situation, with two full seasons remaining after this one, gives Inter a strong position. Furthermore, Calhanoglu's importance to Simone Inzaghi's system, where he dictates play from the base of midfield, makes him a virtually irreplaceable asset in the club's project.
Looking ahead, Stipic also highlighted Calhanoglu's pride in his upcoming role as captain of the Turkish national team at the next World Cup, a responsibility he described as a special honour. This international duty, coupled with his club ambitions, frames the player's current priorities. For Inter, securing the long-term future of a key component of their midfield remains a strategic objective, and this public affirmation from his agent suggests extension talks could be a natural next step in due course.
