Arsenal are preparing a renewed bid for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, with the player reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners saw an initial offer of £55 million rejected, and a subsequent indication of £65 million also failed to convince Newcastle to sell. Sources suggest Newcastle are seeking a fee in the region of £90 million, a figure Arsenal are not currently prepared to meet.
Guimaraes, who has been a key player for Newcastle since his arrival, has reportedly handled the situation professionally, expressing his desire to join Arsenal without publicly pushing for a transfer. Mikel Arteta is a long-time admirer of the Brazilian midfielder and believes he would be a valuable addition to his squad. Negotiations are expected to be crucial, with a significant increase in Arsenal’s offer likely needed to bridge the gap between the two clubs’ valuations.
In contrast to the ongoing Guimaraes saga, Chelsea have reached a full agreement to sell Andrey Santos to Manchester United for a fee of £48 million, plus £2 million in potential bonuses. Santos is expected to undergo a medical within the next 24 hours before signing a five-year contract with the option of a further year. The deal is being handled by the same agency that represents Guimaraes, though Romano clarified that separate representatives are involved in each transfer.
Manchester United are also nearing the completion of a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson, with the player scheduled to undergo a medical in the United Kingdom this week. While a verbal agreement is in place, the transfer will not be officially finalized until Ederson passes the medical examination. These moves signal a busy summer for both Manchester United and Chelsea as they reshape their squads under new management.
Aurélien Tchouaméni’s future has also been resolved, with the Real Madrid midfielder agreeing to a new five-year contract, ending reported interest from Manchester United. Manager Jose Mourinho played a key role in convincing Tchouaméni to remain at the Bernabeu, valuing his competitive spirit and physical presence.
