Arsenal submitted a verbal offer through intermediaries in late June, but have yet to follow up with a formal, improved bid, which Newcastle are awaiting.
Chelsea’s attempt to hijack the transfer of Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Alajbegovic has reportedly failed. Tuttomercatoweb reports that Atalanta have been in negotiations with Leverkusen for some time, but have struggled to meet the German club’s €30 million valuation. Chelsea saw this as an opportunity to enter the race, but Alajbegovic has already given his word to Atalanta and will not consider offers from other clubs while those negotiations remain ongoing.
