Atletico Madrid will consider offers for five members of their squad this summer, including forward Alexander Sorloth who has been a reported target for Barcelona, according to Diario AS. The news comes after the club’s Champions League semi-final defeat to Arsenal, shifting focus to potential squad improvements under Sporting Director Mateu Alemany.
The club is reportedly nearing a deal to bring in Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes, signaling an active transfer window ahead. Atletico have already seen 16 players arrive in the past two seasons, and Alemany appears set to continue reshaping the squad.
The five players Atletico will listen to offers for are Sorloth, Robin Le Normand, Nahuel Molina, Thiago Almada, and Clement Lenglet. While none will be actively forced out, the club is open to potential departures. Le Normand’s inclusion is a recent development, despite arriving from Real Sociedad only two years ago for a fee of €35 million.
Sorloth has attracted interest from multiple clubs, including AC Milan, and Barcelona have reportedly inquired about his availability as a potential alternative to Robert Lewandowski. The Norwegian international was also linked with a move away last year.
Alongside potential departures, Atletico are also addressing the futures of several veterans. Captain Koke Resurreccion is expected to sign a one-year contract extension, and Marcos Llorente is also anticipated to remain with the club. The situations of Jan Oblak and Jose Maria Gimenez are less certain, with the club potentially exploring a sale of the highly-paid Oblak, and Gimenez also being tipped to leave.
The club’s willingness to consider offers for these players suggests a strategic overhaul is underway, aiming to balance financial sustainability with on-field performance. These moves could free up funds for further investment in key areas and allow Simeone to refine his squad for a continued push for domestic and European success.
