Barcelona are now considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Goncalo Ramos after Chelsea rebuffed their approaches for Joao Pedro, according to TEAMtalk. The Catalan club are seeking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of a potential overhaul, with veteran striker Robert Lewandowski’s future uncertain.
Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, had identified Pedro as a potential signing, having admired the player for several years. However, Chelsea have indicated they have no intention of selling the former Brighton & Hove Albion player, who has become a key figure in their attack despite a season of inconsistent team performances. Pedro has impressed in multiple attacking roles, solidifying his position within the Chelsea squad.
With a deal for Pedro seemingly impossible, Barcelona have shifted their focus to Ramos, who is also reportedly a target for Chelsea as they seek to bolster their own forward line. PSG have reportedly indicated they are open to allowing Ramos to leave this summer, as the player has expressed frustration with his limited playing time. Ramos joined PSG from Benfica in the summer of 2024 after a loan deal triggered a mandatory €65m (£56m) purchase option.
Ramos has scored 45 goals in 127 appearances for PSG across all competitions. While Ramos has emerged as a viable option, Barcelona still view Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid as a priority target, though securing his signature would be financially challenging, with Atletico valuing him at around €100m (£87m). Arsenal are also reportedly interested in Alvarez and may need to sell players to fund a potential bid.
Barcelona may need to make sacrifices of their own to finance either Ramos or Alvarez. Defender Jules Kounde has been linked with a potential exit, with reports suggesting a £69m offer could be forthcoming from a Premier League club. The situation highlights Barcelona’s need to balance their ambitions with their financial realities as they plan for the future of their attack.
