FC Barcelona’s recent La Liga title victory will result in a further payment of €3 million to RB Leipzig, stemming from the terms of Dani Olmo’s transfer in August 2024. The Catalan club secured their second consecutive league title with a 2-0 win against Real Madrid, simultaneously triggering the bonus clause agreed upon during the player’s move.
According to Bild, the clause stipulated the additional payment to Leipzig upon Barcelona winning the La Liga title. The initial transfer of Dani Olmo from Leipzig to Barcelona was valued at a base fee of €55 million. This latest payment brings the total fee paid by Barcelona for the Spanish international to €61 million, having already paid a similar bonus of €3 million following their title win last season.
Olmo has become a key component of the Barcelona squad since arriving from Germany, making 85 appearances across all competitions. During his time at the club, the 26-year-old has contributed significantly to the attack, scoring 20 goals and providing 17 assists. He previously established himself as a promising talent during his time with Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Leipzig in January 2020.
Barcelona’s acquisition of Olmo was seen as a strategic move to bolster their attacking options and add depth to their squad. Leipzig, meanwhile, were able to secure a substantial fee for a player who had impressed in the Bundesliga. The additional bonuses linked to Barcelona’s success demonstrate the foresight of Leipzig in negotiating the transfer agreement, and provide further financial benefit to the German club. This transfer continues to prove mutually beneficial, providing Barcelona with a dynamic player and Leipzig with a profitable deal.
