Inter Milan’s pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones may depend on a significant transfer involving Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, according to reports in Italy. The potential deal, valued at approximately €150 million, could unlock funds for Inter to increase their offer for Jones.
Nottingham Forest are poised to sell Anderson, with Manchester City currently the sole remaining bidder after other clubs withdrew from the race. City’s initial offer of £120 million was rejected, as Forest are holding firm at a £130 million (approximately €150 million) valuation. Negotiations are reportedly nearing a conclusion, with Anderson potentially undergoing a medical with City in the United States.
The sale of Anderson would create a vacancy in Nottingham Forest’s midfield, reigniting their interest in Inter’s Davide Frattesi. A larger influx of capital from the Anderson sale would also allow Forest to improve their offer for a replacement midfielder, potentially reaching the €30 million valuation Inter has placed on Frattesi.
Inter have previously offered £20 million for Jones, but Liverpool are seeking £30 million. If Frattesi departs for the increased offer from Nottingham Forest, Inter believe they will be able to meet Liverpool’s asking price for Jones. Remaining negotiations would then focus on a percentage of any future sale of the player, a point Liverpool are particularly keen to secure given Jones’s history with the club. The 23-year-old has been with Liverpool since 2018, progressing through the academy ranks to become a regular member of the first team squad. This potential transfer could signal a significant shift in Inter’s midfield strategy as they prepare for the upcoming season.
