Rafael Leao has again indicated his willingness to leave AC Milan, stating he would depart “happy” having contributed to the club’s progress. The Portugal international made the comments in a recent interview with Portuguese television station RTP, filmed at a deserted San Siro.
Leao suggested he has achieved his objectives with Milan, adding that while anything is possible in football, he would leave satisfied if the opportunity arose. The forward did not specify a preferred destination, but acknowledged the potential for a future transfer.
This is not the first time Leao has publicly discussed a possible departure from the Rossoneri. He has become increasingly open about his future in recent interviews, fueling speculation about a potential move during the transfer window. The timing of these statements coincides with a period of transition at Milan, as the club searches for a new sporting director.
According to reports, Galatasaray are currently the most proactive suitors for Leao. The Turkish club have reportedly offered the player a contract worth €10 million per season, though they have not yet entered formal negotiations with Milan. Fenerbahçe had initially expressed interest but have since reportedly stepped back from pursuing a deal.
Leao also reflected on his coaching career, praising both Jorge Jesus and Stefano Pioli. He highlighted Jesus’s belief in him as a key factor in his development, while also acknowledging Pioli as one of the best managers he has worked with. The 25-year-old is currently preparing for the World Cup with Portugal, where he will play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he described as an “idol”.
A decision regarding Leao’s future is expected after the World Cup, with Milan awaiting a suitable offer that satisfies both the player and the club. The situation remains fluid, and the appointment of a new sporting director will likely play a crucial role in determining the outcome.
