Rafael Leao is seeking a move to the Premier League and is prepared to leave AC Milan this summer, according to reports in Italy. The 27-year-old informed Milan of his desire to seek a fresh challenge in May, bringing an end to his seven-year spell at the San Siro.
Leao rose to prominence as one of Europe’s most exciting wingers during Milan’s run to the Champions League semi-finals in the 2022-23 season. However, his goalscoring form has declined in the subsequent three seasons, registering 10 goals in 31 appearances for Milan last season, a decrease of six goals compared to his most prolific campaign.
While no concrete reports have directly linked Manchester United with a move for Leao, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Portugal international remains keen on a transfer to England. Milan, now managed by former United boss Ruben Amorim, have valued Leao at around €60 million (£51m), but may consider a bid of €50 million (£42.5m) to facilitate his departure.
The Rossoneri are reportedly exploring potential replacements, with Genk’s 18-year-old forward Konstantinos Karetsas identified as a possible successor to Leao. This news arrives amid reports that Roma have launched a €46 million (£39.1m) bid for Crysencio Summerville of West Ham United, a player also reportedly of interest to Manchester United, according to The Athletic.
However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Roma’s initial offer for Summerville has been rejected by West Ham, with the Serie A side preparing a renewed bid. Manchester United have already been active in the transfer window, securing the signings of Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow, and Youri Tielemans as Michael Carrick looks to strengthen his squad for the 2026-27 season.
The club are still reportedly targeting a third central midfielder despite the arrivals of Santos and Tielemans. A previous attempt to sign Ederson from Atalanta fell through after a medical revealed a potential issue, leading to the Brazil international signing a contract extension with the Italian club. Leao’s potential arrival would offer Carrick another attacking option, while Summerville would provide competition in wide areas.
