All matches from France’s Ligue 1 will now be available to viewers in Spain via streaming service DAZN, LFP Média announced. The agreement marks the first time since the 2017-2018 season that Spanish audiences will have access to every match from the French top flight. The first match to be broadcast on the platform will be the upcoming fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and RC Lens on May 13th.
This deal represents a positive development for the value of Ligue 1’s television rights. The move allows Spanish fans to follow players such as Fabián Ruiz and Ansu Fati, who currently plays for Monaco, potentially increasing the league’s popularity within the country. Two matches per round of fixtures will be commentated in Spanish to enhance the viewing experience.
The acquisition by DAZN comes as other European leagues, like the English Premier League and Spanish La Liga, maintain a strong foothold in the Spanish broadcasting market. This new partnership provides Spanish football fans with increased options and broader coverage of European football.
DAZN has been increasingly investing in sports rights across Europe, aiming to become a major player in the sports streaming landscape. The inclusion of Ligue 1 strengthens their portfolio and provides a compelling offering for football fans in Spain. This deal will likely encourage further investment in the league, potentially leading to increased competitiveness and global recognition.
