Stade de Reims goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, according to L’Équipe. Despite Reims’ disappointing season, the 20-year-old’s performances have not gone unnoticed by clubs across Europe, with Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and potentially Tottenham Hotspur emerging as potential destinations.
Jaouen recently delivered a key performance in a 1-1 draw against Le Mans, showcasing the qualities that have drawn attention from English clubs. Standing at two meters tall, he is described as explosive and effective with the ball at his feet, attributes that align well with the demands of the Premier League. Brighton are reportedly monitoring Jaouen’s development closely, viewing him as a potential replacement for Bart Verbruggen should the Dutch goalkeeper depart during the off-season.
Newcastle are considering Jaouen as competition for their current number one, Nick Pope, who is 34 years old. Tottenham may also enter the race should they maintain their Premier League status, although this interest is currently contingent on their final league position. Reims recently extended Jaouen’s contract to June 2029, but the club anticipates his departure this summer.
Reims are expected to seek a transfer fee between €15 and €20 million for Jaouen, a significant sum for a goalkeeper. The young shot-stopper has recorded fifteen clean sheets in Ligue 2 this season and is a nominee for the league’s best goalkeeper award, as well as a contender for a place in the UNFP team of the season. Jaouen has also represented France at the Under-21 level, further enhancing his profile. His potential move to the Premier League could provide him with a platform to further develop his career and compete at a higher level.
