Liverpool could sell winger Cody Gakpo this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur among the potential suitors, according to journalist David Lynch. The news comes after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign for both Gakpo and Liverpool, ultimately leading to the dismissal of manager Arne Slot and the appointment of Andoni Iraola.
Lynch revealed that conversations within the club suggest a willingness to consider offers for Gakpo, despite initial expectations that the player would be given another season to prove himself under the new manager. While Gakpo has not actively requested a transfer, the club would accept a suitable bid, reportedly valuing him at £78 million.
Gakpo joined Liverpool in January 2023 from PSV Eindhoven, and while he has shown glimpses of promise, his form has been inconsistent. He has scored 121 goals across his senior career, but struggled to consistently impact games last season. The potential sale is driven by a desire for squad restructuring under Iraola.
Should Gakpo depart, Liverpool are reportedly interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as a replacement. Journalist Lynch stated that Barcola is a “feasible” target, with a potential price tag of £78 million. Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that Iraola “loves” Barcola, and a detail in his contract could facilitate a move. However, Liverpool’s priority remains the signing of Yan Diomande, and securing Barcola would be contingent on both Gakpo’s departure and PSG’s willingness to sell. Arsenal have also been linked with Barcola, suggesting potential competition for his signature. The addition of Barcola would provide Iraola with another attacking option capable of playing on either flank or centrally.
