Borussia Dortmund left-back Daniel Svensson is attracting interest from Premier League clubs Liverpool and Arsenal, according to a report by CaughtOffside. Both clubs, recent champions of England, are considering a move for the Swedish international following his appearance at the recent World Cup.
Liverpool are currently considered the frontrunners in the pursuit, prompted by the recent free transfer of Andy Robertson to Tottenham Hotspur. While the Reds possess several options at left-back, including Piero Hincapie, the club experienced a number of defensive injuries throughout the 2025/26 season, highlighting a need for further reinforcement in that position.
Svensson joined Dortmund from FC Nordsjaelland in January 2025 for a fee of €6.5 million and has since established himself as a regular in Niko Kovac’s side, making 45 Bundesliga appearances, with 35 of those being starts. The 24-year-old also featured for Sweden at the World Cup, starting in their Round of 32 defeat to France.
Dortmund are in a strong negotiating position, with Svensson’s contract at the Signal Iduna Park running until 2029. Bild reports that the Bundesliga club would likely demand a transfer fee in the region of €30 million for the defender. Dortmund have recently signed Kauã Prates to compete in the same position, but the 17-year-old is currently unavailable for the start of pre-season due to an injury.
The potential arrival of Svensson at either Liverpool or Arsenal would provide valuable depth and competition in a crucial defensive position. His recent performances in the Bundesliga and at the World Cup have showcased his ability to contribute at a high level, making him an attractive prospect for both clubs.
