Liverpool have reaffirmed their intention to allow Mohamed Salah to leave the club this summer, despite recent suggestions the forward could reconsider his decision. The Egyptian international announced in March 2026 his plans to depart Anfield at the end of the current season.
Reports emerged this week indicating Salah might be open to staying, with Egypt team-mate Ahmed El-Shenawy stating the player was unsure about his future and psychologically affected by the prospect of leaving. However, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, quickly dismissed the speculation, stating both he and the player maintain privacy regarding future plans.
Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed on X that Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, remain committed to Salah’s departure. This decision comes despite a change in management at Anfield, with Andoni Iraola now the head coach following the departure of Arne Slot, with whom Salah reportedly had a strained relationship during the 2025/26 season.
While Salah’s future is settled, Liverpool are actively exploring other transfer targets. According to Football Insider, Real Madrid continue to express strong interest in Alexis Mac Allister, with transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke noting the Spanish club are seeking long-term replacements for Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. Mac Allister’s father previously indicated there had been no discussions regarding a contract extension, with the player’s current deal expiring in 2028.
Furthermore, Liverpool are planning a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, who has reportedly informed PSG of his desire to leave. Arsenal are also preparing a bid for the France international, with sources indicating both Premier League clubs have initiated contact regarding a potential transfer. Barcola’s availability presents Liverpool with an opportunity to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season.
