Liverpool are currently considered the frontrunners to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, with Arsenal also expressing interest in the winger. The news comes as several European clubs seek to bolster their attacking options during the upcoming transfer window.
Barcola joined PSG in January 2025, but his playing time has been reduced following the arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The 23-year-old has yet to agree to a contract extension with the French champions, fueling speculation about a potential departure. While Barcelona also initially showed interest, their current financial situation makes a deal unlikely given Barcola’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €70.6 million.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal are capable of meeting PSG’s valuation, and could offer Barcola regular first-team football. Arsenal are anticipated to sell either Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli, creating space in their squad. Liverpool, meanwhile, are preparing for the departure of Mohamed Salah and seeking an upgrade on Cody Gakpo’s performances. The emergence of Rio Ngumoha in Liverpool’s first team has been promising, but the teenager is still considered too physically underdeveloped to consistently perform at the Premier League level.
Data analysis from SciSports suggests Liverpool would be a more suitable destination for Barcola than Arsenal. The firm’s Club Fit rating gives Liverpool a score of 85 out of 100, significantly higher than Arsenal’s rating of 72. SciSports also awarded Liverpool full marks for playstyle compatibility, while Arsenal received only three out of five stars in that category, raising concerns about how well Barcola would adapt to Mikel Arteta’s tactical approach. The data indicates Barcola’s skillset aligns more closely with Liverpool’s system.
PSG are reportedly reluctant to sell Barcola, but Liverpool are expected to make a strong push to secure his signature. The Frenchman’s ability to create chances and make a difference in attack would fill a crucial void in Liverpool’s squad following Salah’s exit and Gakpo’s inconsistent form.
