Liverpool have identified Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as their primary target to fill a potential void left by Mohamed Salah, according to TEAMtalk. The club’s recruitment team, led by sporting director Richard Hughes, have shifted focus to the 23-year-old after failing to secure a deal for Yan Diomande, who has opted for a move to Real Madrid.
Liverpool had reportedly invested significant time and effort into signing Diomande, exceeding the groundwork done by other interested clubs, but the Ivory Coast international’s decision prompted a swift change in strategy. Barcola has emerged as the overwhelming favourite for the role, with new manager Andoni Iraola also reportedly supportive of the pursuit.
Sources indicate that Liverpool have engaged in extensive discussions with Barcola’s representatives and have received positive signals regarding his willingness to join the Merseyside club. Transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey stated that Liverpool’s interest is now at its most advanced point this summer. Barcola himself has reportedly informed PSG that he has no intention of signing a new contract, potentially forcing the French club’s hand.
P SG have initially placed a £145 million price tag on Barcola, recognizing his value as a young, elite forward. Liverpool are aiming to negotiate a fee below this valuation, and ideally below the club-record £125 million spent on Alexander Isak. However, they face competition from Arsenal, who also remain interested in the player.
Should a deal for Barcola prove unattainable, Liverpool have identified nine alternative targets, including Barcola’s PSG teammate Ibrahim Mbaye, Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, Bournemouth’s Rayan, Chelsea’s Pedro Neto, Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, and RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa. The Reds are also monitoring the situations of Brahim Diaz, Arda Guler, and Endrick at Real Madrid, as their playing time may be limited under Jose Mourinho. They are also aware of Argentine wonderkid Franco Mastantuono, though he is not currently viewed as a direct replacement for Salah due to his age and development stage.
Recent reports suggest Liverpool have reached an agreement with Barcola over a long-term contract and have submitted an opening bid to PSG. The successful acquisition of Barcola could lead to the departure of a current Liverpool forward to balance the squad.
