Liverpool have been encouraged that a deal for RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa is possible this summer, following their unsuccessful pursuit of teammate Yan Diomande, who is reportedly set to join Paris Saint-Germain. The Merseyside club had been heavily linked with Diomande for months, but the Ivorian international has indicated a strong preference for a move to the French capital.
With Liverpool needing to find a replacement for Mohamed Salah, they had identified Diomande as a key target, but now find themselves reassessing options. According to Sky Germany reporter Philipp Hinze, Leipzig are now more open to selling Nusa to raise funds for their own squad rebuilding plans. The 21-year-old Norwegian international recently impressed with a goal against Ivory Coast during the World Cup finals, further highlighting his potential.
Hinze reports that Leipzig value Nusa at €60 million (approximately £51 million or $68 million), but are not actively seeking to sell him, preferring to retain his services for another season. However, the club's financial situation necessitates a major sale, and with no concrete offers received for other players, Nusa has emerged as a potential departure.
While Nusa represents a potential option for Liverpool, he primarily plays off the left flank, a position already well-stocked with Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, and recent signing Victor Munoz. His goal contributions for Leipzig – 10 goals and 11 assists in 71 appearances – are also not exceptionally prolific. Former Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou believes Diomande may have made a mistake choosing PSG over Liverpool, arguing that the Premier League offers a better environment for development, though he acknowledged PSG’s current success. Liverpool were previously linked with three other Leipzig players in May, and are now considering six winger options overall.
