Liverpool are reportedly preparing to sell midfielder Curtis Jones, with talks underway with Inter Milan, and have made an enquiry for France international Khephren Thuram as a potential replacement. According to Italian outlet TuttoJuve, Liverpool ‘are selling Curtis Jones’ as the club seek to avoid losing the player on a free transfer with his contract set to expire next year.
Negotiations with Inter Milan, who previously expressed interest in January, are progressing, though Liverpool are holding out for a fee of €30m (£25m) despite Inter’s initial offer of €25m (£21m). Jones himself is understood to have approved the move. The club’s willingness to sell differs from recent contract situations with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate, where Liverpool actively pursued renewals until the very end.
As Liverpool consider midfield options, they have reportedly joined Manchester United and Galatasaray in making enquiries about Khephren Thuram. The 25-year-old is currently valued in the region of €45-50m (£39m-£43m). While Thuram is on Manchester United’s shortlist, they are also pursuing other targets including Ederson, Mateus Fernandes, Alex Scott, and Sandro Tonali.
The inflated cost of Premier League players may lead both clubs to explore options in other leagues, with Thuram potentially representing better value. Manchester United have already deemed a move for Elliot Anderson, valued at £121m by Nottingham Forest, too expensive, and are facing similarly high asking prices for Fernandes (£85m), Tonali (£100m), and Scott (£80m). A potential battle between Liverpool and Manchester United for Thuram’s signature could develop if both clubs shy away from those Premier League valuations.
