Liverpool are now focusing their efforts on securing the transfer of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola following the rejection of their €100 million (£86m) bid for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, according to reports. The club had identified Diomande as their primary target to fill the right wing position currently occupied by Mohamed Salah.
Despite speculation of a potential increased offer of €120m (£103m), Diomande has reportedly indicated a preference for a move to PSG. This development has prompted Liverpool to quickly reassess their options, with Barcola emerging as the leading candidate among alternatives such as Said El Mala of Koln and Bazoumana Toure of Hoffenheim.
Liverpool reporter David Lynch, speaking to Anfield Index, stated that Barcola is “100 per cent” expected to leave PSG and believes the Reds will now make a “massively concrete” move for the Frenchman. Barcola’s playing time at PSG has been limited due to the form of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue, and Diomande’s potential arrival could further reduce his opportunities.
PSG are reportedly willing to part with Barcola for a fee of around €90m (£77.5m). The 21-year-old has been monitored by Liverpool for some time, and the club’s interest has intensified following the setback in their pursuit of Diomande. Arsenal have also been linked with Barcola, but Liverpool are currently considered the frontrunners for his signature. Recent reports from Fabrizio Romano indicate that contract renewal talks between Barcola and PSG have completely stalled.
Liverpool have also been impressed by Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, however, PSG are also pursuing a deal for him. PSG are actively reshaping their squad, with plans to bring in Diomande and Akliouche while also selling Barcola, Lee Kang-in, and Goncalo Ramos. Securing Barcola would provide Liverpool with a dynamic attacking option and address their need for reinforcement on the wing.
