Liverpool have shifted their focus to RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to reports from Football Insider. This comes amid growing concerns that a deal for Yan Diomande, also of Leipzig, may prove too difficult to complete this summer.
Leipzig are reportedly reluctant to sell Diomande, valuing the player at €100million (£86.5m) and indicating they wish to retain him for at least another season. This high asking price and the club’s stance have prompted Liverpool to explore alternative options, with Nusa emerging as a viable target. The 21-year-old Nusa is valued at £47.5m, a significantly lower fee than that demanded for Diomande.
While Nusa is a talented player, he primarily operates as a left winger, potentially making him a less direct replacement for Salah, who has been a mainstay on the right flank for Liverpool. However, the club are also tracking Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure, a left-footed player capable of playing on either wing, who may be a better fit for the role. Toure has impressed Liverpool scouts with his recent form, scoring five goals and providing 12 assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances this season.
Liverpool are facing competition from Manchester United for Toure’s signature, with Hoffenheim reportedly seeking a fee in the region of €30-40m (£26-35m). The pursuit of these wide players underscores the club’s need to find a successor for Salah, whose future at Anfield remains uncertain. The potential arrival of Nusa or Toure would provide Arne Slot, the incoming Liverpool manager, with additional attacking options and tactical flexibility as he begins to reshape the squad.
