Lyon have registered their interest in taking Juventus forward Lois Openda on loan, according to journalist Nicolò Schira. The French club have made an initial inquiry regarding a loan deal with an option to buy the Belgian international next summer.
Openda arrived at Juventus last summer in a significant transfer orchestrated by former club official Giovanni Comolli, but has struggled to establish himself under manager Luciano Spalletti. He has seen limited playing time, prompting the Turin club to consider offers for his departure and recoup some of the substantial fee paid for his services just a year ago.
Interest in Openda is reportedly building from several Ligue 1 clubs, including Lens, who have explored the possibility of a loan with Juventus contributing to his wages. Monaco have also been linked with a move for the 23-year-old, but it is Lyon who have now made the first formal approach.
Openda recently became a father and is currently participating in pre-season training with Juventus under Spalletti. However, his future at the club appears uncertain, and a move to France seems increasingly likely. The loan with option to buy structure would allow Lyon to assess Openda’s suitability without a large upfront investment, while offering the player a potential route to regular first-team football.
Should Openda depart, it would represent another shift in Juventus’ attacking options as Spalletti reshapes the squad ahead of the new Serie A season. A successful loan spell in France could provide Openda with the platform to rediscover his form and potentially secure a permanent transfer.
