Olympique Lyonnais Féminin have announced the signing of Swedish forward Johanna Rytting Kaneryd from Chelsea. The move brings the 26-year-old winger to the French club on a contract lasting until 2029, following a successful two-year spell in London. The club confirmed the transfer on Monday morning, adding Rytting Kaneryd as their third acquisition of the summer transfer window.
Rytting Kaneryd joined Chelsea in 2022 and made 115 appearances for the Women’s Super League side, scoring 12 goals. During her time with Chelsea, she secured three league titles – in 2023, 2024, and 2025 – as well as two FA Cup victories, also in 2023 and 2025. She was a consistent performer for the Blues, contributing to their dominance in English women’s football.
Lyon have been active in strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming season, having already brought in German goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs and Scottish attacker Caroline Weir. Rytting Kaneryd’s arrival further bolsters their attacking options, providing competition and depth to the forward line. The Swedish international was recently named Sweden’s Player of the Year for 2024 and finished 23rd in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings, demonstrating her growing reputation within the sport.
Lyon will begin their 2026-2027 campaign with an away match against Fleury in early September. They will then return to their home stadium to face Paris FC, who were runners-up in the previous edition of the league, the following weekend. The addition of Rytting Kaneryd is expected to significantly enhance Lyon’s chances of challenging for domestic and European honours, solidifying their position as one of the leading clubs in women’s football.
