Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is not actively seeking a move away from Anfield, according to his father and agent. Reports had linked the Argentina international with a potential transfer to Real Madrid, fuelled by speculation surrounding a possible rebuild at Liverpool under incoming manager Arne Slot.
The Telegraph recently reported that Mac Allister was privately open to a move to Spain, suggesting he could be part of a wave of departures to finance further investment in the squad. The report cited a dip in form and the fact that Mac Allister has two years remaining on his current contract as contributing factors.
However, speaking to UAE outlet WinWin, Mac Allister’s father stated, “Alexis has a valid contract until June 2028 and so far we are not speaking publicly with any other club.” He emphasized the importance of respecting the club’s fans and noted that Liverpool have not initiated contract renewal talks.
Mac Allister currently holds an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €105 million, making him the 17th most valuable player globally and Liverpool’s third-most valuable asset after Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz. Despite this potential financial benefit, Liverpool are considered unlikely to sanction the sale of a key player, particularly given their existing lack of depth in midfield.
Liverpool are already preparing for a significant summer overhaul, with Mohamed Salah confirming his departure on a free transfer alongside veteran left-back Andrew Robertson. Ibrahima Konate’s contract also expires at the end of the season, and Alisson is reportedly close to joining Juventus.
The club’s position is further strengthened by the remaining term on Mac Allister’s contract, allowing them to reassess the situation next year if necessary. Recent events at Real Madrid, including reported disciplinary issues within the squad, may also have altered Mac Allister’s perception of a potential move. Therefore, an immediate departure from Liverpool appears improbable.
