Manchester United are continuing their summer transfer activity, with reported interest in both Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye and Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. According to United In Focus, United are vying with Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of 18-year-old Mbaye, who is seeking more regular first-team opportunities.
Mbaye enjoyed a breakthrough season with PSG in 2025/26, making 31 appearances across all competitions. Despite PSG’s reluctance to sell a promising academy graduate, they are reportedly open to offers around €35 million (£30m), though both United and Spurs are expected to bid closer to €25 million (£21m). The Senegal international’s versatility, capable of playing on either wing or in an attacking midfield role, has attracted attention from multiple clubs. He also made history at the World Cup, becoming the youngest African goalscorer in the tournament.
Separately, TEAMtalk reports that Carlos Baleba is actively pushing for a move to Old Trafford. United previously showed interest in the 22-year-old Cameroonian midfielder last summer, but a potential deal was shelved due to Brighton’s £100 million valuation. Fabrizio Romano stated that Baleba remains keen on joining United and playing under Michael Carrick, though the club has not yet submitted a formal offer.
However, Baleba’s price tag has reportedly dropped to £70 million, potentially reviving United’s interest. Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk confirms United’s continued interest, suggesting a summer switch is possible if other transfer targets fall through. Baleba experienced a slight dip in form during the 2025/26 campaign, which initially deterred United, but his desire to join the club could prove decisive. The pursuit of both players indicates United’s intent to bolster their squad ahead of the new season, addressing needs in both attacking and midfield positions.
