Manchester United have been alerted to the potential availability of Eduardo Camavinga, with reports suggesting Real Madrid may be willing to sell the midfielder this summer. The news comes as Jose Mourinho prepares for his second spell in charge at the Bernabeu, and seeks to reshape the squad.
According to Defensa Central, Mourinho does not feature Camavinga in his plans for the team and will sanction his departure. This shift in stance comes amid reported issues within the Real Madrid dressing room involving several players, including Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, prompting club president Florentino Perez to bring in Mourinho to restore order. The Portuguese manager is reportedly keen on signing Rodri from Manchester City to bolster the midfield, though City are actively working to retain their key player.
Camavinga, 21, joined Real Madrid from Rennes in 2021 and has become a regular squad member, making 34 appearances across all competitions this past season. However, he has often been deployed in a variety of positions, including left-back, and has reportedly expressed a desire for more consistent playing time in his preferred midfield role.
Sources have confirmed that both Manchester United and Liverpool have expressed strong interest in the Frenchman, with talks already underway with his representatives. Camavinga is valued at around £50 million. United are also linked with Valverde, but the Uruguayan’s situation is more complex, with reports in Spain suggesting Madrid may be willing to consider significant offers, potentially in the range of £87-104 million. The club are reportedly leaning towards retaining Tchouameni, despite recent clashes with Valverde, and may even consider him a future captain.
Recent reports indicate that Valverde and Tchouameni were involved in a physical altercation, with Tchouameni requiring stitches. Despite this, Madrid players have accused Valverde of unprofessional conduct. A departure for Valverde could free up funds and space in the squad, while Camavinga’s exit would align with Mourinho’s vision for the team. The potential arrival of Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has also been mentioned as a possible replacement for Camavinga.
