Manchester United are preparing a €58 million (£50m, $67.3m) offer for Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer, according to reports from TuttoJuve. The potential move comes as United manager Michael Carrick looks to solidify his defensive options following a successful campaign that saw the club finish in the Premier League’s top five.
United have already been linked with several defensive targets this summer, including Ederson of Atalanta, and Bremer has emerged as a key candidate to add “solidity and leadership” to the backline. Current central defensive options at Old Trafford include Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro.
Bremer, 29, has established himself as one of the top defenders in Serie A since joining Juventus. While his contract with the Turin club runs until 2029, the prospect of playing in the Premier League is reportedly a significant draw for the Brazilian international. His qualities – speed, aggressiveness in duels, and leadership – have reportedly convinced United to prioritise him.
However, Juventus are currently reluctant to sell Bremer, viewing him as a “key player” for their project. The club’s lack of Champions League qualification for next season could influence their position, potentially making them more open to offers if Bremer expresses a strong desire to leave. Bremer himself is said to be “tempted” by the move to Manchester, according to TuttoJuve.
Should Bremer arrive at Old Trafford, he would provide further competition and depth in a position Carrick is clearly looking to strengthen. The transfer would represent a significant investment for United, but one they believe is justified given Bremer’s quality and potential impact.
