Manchester United have shifted their focus to Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers as a summer transfer target, according to reports, while appearing to cool their interest in Chelsea’s Cole Palmer. This comes as United prepare for a potentially active window, with several positions being assessed for reinforcement ahead of next season.
Sources have indicated that while United have historically been interested in Palmer, several factors have led to a change in priorities. Transfer journalist Jacobs told The United Stand that United were put off by Palmer’s preference to play centrally, as the club has already brought in players like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to fill those roles. The concern is that acquiring another player primarily suited to the number ten position would create an imbalance in the squad.
Rogers, however, offers greater tactical flexibility, being comfortable both as a winger and in a central role. This versatility is seen as particularly valuable with the potential departure of Bruno Fernandes in the future, allowing for interchangeability with Cunha, who can also play on the left wing. FootballTransfers reported earlier in the season that Rogers had emerged as a potential target for the Red Devils.
In addition to potential attacking additions, United are also heavily linked with RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba. The club has reportedly initiated talks with Lukeba’s representatives, aiming to secure his signature despite interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester City. Lukeba’s contract includes an €80 million release clause, though Leipzig may be willing to negotiate a slightly lower fee.
Casemiro has confirmed he will leave Manchester United at the end of his contract this summer, stating he wants to depart “on top” after four years at the club. The Brazilian midfielder explained to ESPN that he doesn't foresee a contract extension, expressing gratitude to the club and fans. United are also monitoring Lyon winger Afonso Moreira, who has impressed in Ligue 1, although their interest is currently at an early stage, with clubs from Serie A and the Bundesliga also showing interest.
