Manchester United are maintaining their interest in Borussia Dortmund right-back Julian Ryerson, according to Sky Germany. The club have been linked with the Norwegian international for several months, and are reportedly considering him as a potential long-term option at right-back.
Ryerson, 28, is being viewed as a possible replacement for Noussair Mazraoui, should the Morocco international depart Old Trafford this summer. Mazraoui’s future has been subject to speculation, with reports suggesting he may be open to a move after two seasons with the Red Devils. United are therefore exploring alternatives, and Ryerson has emerged as a strong candidate.
Dortmund are expected to demand a fee of at least €30 million for Ryerson, reflecting his importance to the team and recent form. The right-back enjoyed a productive 2025/26 season, making 42 appearances across all competitions and providing an impressive 18 assists. This output has significantly increased his market value and will likely be a sticking point in any potential negotiations.
Ryerson joined Borussia Dortmund from Union Berlin in January 2023, quickly establishing himself as a key player under Edin Terzic and now under Nuri Sahin. He has earned 13 caps for Norway since his debut in 2020, and possesses a reputation for consistent performances and attacking contributions from full-back. His ability to deliver quality crosses and support attacks would be a valuable asset to Manchester United.
Manchester United are currently in a period of rebuilding under Erik ten Hag, and strengthening the full-back positions is considered a priority. The potential arrival of Ryerson would provide competition for places and add depth to the squad, potentially allowing the club to challenge on multiple fronts. The transfer could also signal a shift towards recruiting players with proven track records in Europe’s top leagues.
