Manchester United are considering a move for Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams, with data suggesting his performance metrics compare favorably to Manchester City’s Rodri, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The 27-year-old Adams recently impressed for the United States at the 2026 World Cup, anchoring the midfield in a dominant 4-1 victory over Paraguay. During the match, Adams completed 52 of 59 passes, including nine into the final third, and demonstrated defensive prowess with four clearances and two interceptions.
Adams joined Bournemouth ahead of the 2023-24 Premier League season after a stint with Leeds United, where he quickly established himself as a key player. Prior to his move to England, Adams spent time with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, contributing to their DFB-Pokal win in 2022. He has earned 36 caps for the USMNT, becoming a regular fixture in the national team setup.
United are reportedly aiming to sign two more central midfielders this summer, with West Ham’s Edson Álvarez nearing a move to Old Trafford. Adams is being considered as a potential third addition, alongside other targets including Sandro Tonali, Carlos Baleba, Alex Scott, and Aurelien Tchouameni. The club recently ended their pursuit of Elliot Anderson after Nottingham Forest rejected a substantial bid from Manchester City, deeming the cost prohibitive.
Liverpool and Chelsea are also monitoring Adams’ situation, with Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth’s manager, being a known advocate for the player. While no formal offer has been made, United have continued to assess Adams as a potential reinforcement for their midfield. A successful move for Adams would provide manager Erik ten Hag with further options in a crucial area of the pitch as the club looks to build on their recent form.
