Manchester United are considering a move for Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso, according to TEAMtalk insider Graeme Bailey. The Italian international has reportedly been offered to several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool, as Juventus seek to raise funds.
United are specifically looking to strengthen their left-sided defensive options, providing cover and competition for current first-choice Luke Shaw. Cambiaso has drawn comparisons to Gianluca Zambrotta from scouts, highlighting his potential as a dynamic and capable defender.
Alongside Cambiaso, United are also continuing to monitor Austrian defender David Affengruber, who currently plays for Elche. Sources indicate the club’s interest dates back to the time when Ruben Amorim was a managerial target, and remains strong, with Florian Plettenberg reporting that Affengruber is planning a summer move. Atletico Madrid are also reportedly interested in the centre-back.
Elche are understood to be resigned to losing Affengruber, given the interest from larger clubs. The pursuit of both Cambiaso and Affengruber signals a clear intent from United to bolster their defensive options ahead of a campaign that will include Champions League football.
In contrast to the potential arrivals, Manchester United have dismissed suggestions that Amad Diallo will be allowed to leave this summer. The club views the young winger as a key part of their long-term plans, with Jason Wilcox, the club’s technical director, having played a significant role in securing a new contract for Diallo, demonstrating the club’s commitment to his development. Diallo is considered one of United’s most exciting attacking talents and could be central to the team’s future.
