Manchester United have reached a contract agreement with Atalanta midfielder Éderson, potentially paving the way for a €45 million summer transfer, according to reports from Italy.
The 26-year-old has been identified as a key midfield target for the Manchester United hierarchy, with the club intensifying their pursuit of his signature in recent weeks. While Atlético Madrid were also linked with a move for the Brazilian, a potential deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ João Gomes is reportedly close to completion for Diego Simeone’s side, potentially clearing the path for United.
Éderson has made 178 appearances for Atalanta since joining from Salernitana in 2022, establishing himself as a prominent figure in Serie A. He has also earned three senior international caps for Brazil. Several other Premier League clubs have monitored his progress, but United have consistently been the most heavily linked with a transfer.
Italian transfer reporter Nicolo Schira reported on X that Éderson has agreed personal terms with Manchester United on a contract extending to 2031, with an annual salary of €5 million. Manchester United are now prepared to offer Atalanta €45 million to finalize the deal.
Data analytics from SciSports suggest Éderson represents a significant upgrade in midfield for United, even surpassing the current quality of Casemiro based on their SciSkill rating. The potential cost-effectiveness of the transfer is also highlighted, with the €45 million fee considerably lower than the €120 million valuation placed on Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson. This move would bolster United’s options in the middle of the park as they prepare for the upcoming season.
