Manchester United have been linked with a move for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall, with reports suggesting the 21-year-old could be available following a period of significant departures at St. James’ Park. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle sources have indicated they may be open to selling Hall, alongside Tino Livramento, after the sales of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.
Newcastle have already seen Alexander Isak, Sandro Tonali, and Anthony Gordon leave for substantial fees, and captain Bruno Guimaraes has reportedly requested a transfer to Arsenal. While the club initially maintained a firm stance against further sales, the potential exit of Guimaraes could alter their approach. Jacobs suggests that other players may now explore their options, believing the club’s previous ‘not-for-sale’ position may not be absolute.
Hall joined Newcastle from Chelsea in August 2023, signing a six-year contract. He made 12 Premier League appearances for the Magpies last season, though often found himself behind Dan Burn in the pecking order. His lack of consistent playing time reportedly contributed to his potential willingness to consider a move.
Manchester United have identified Hall as a top target to strengthen their left-back options. The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to pay around £40-45 million for the England Under-21 international, though Newcastle are likely to seek a higher fee, factoring in Hall’s long-term contract. Negotiations between Hall and Eddie Howe are expected to determine whether a new deal can be agreed or if the player will be permitted to pursue a transfer.
Should Hall become available, United are expected to make a firm offer. The potential arrival of Hall would provide competition for Luke Shaw and offer tactical flexibility to Erik ten Hag’s squad. The situation at Newcastle remains fluid, but the possibility of further departures could create opportunities for other clubs in the transfer market.
