Manchester United are preparing to increase their efforts to sign Lewis Hall from Newcastle United, according to TEAMtalk. The Red Devils have identified the left-back as a priority target, dismissing previous links to Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde.
Newcastle are reportedly reluctant to sell the England international and have placed a €70 million price tag on Hall. However, United are confident that the player is keen on a move to Old Trafford and are poised to step up their attempts to secure his signature. Hall has become a key figure for Newcastle since his move from Chelsea, demonstrating versatility and defensive solidity.
United are also continuing to monitor Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams, as reported by the Daily Mail. The USMNT star was a target for the club during the winter transfer window, but an injury sustained against Manchester United itself curtailed those plans. Adams has since regained full fitness and is currently representing the United States at the World Cup, having played the full 90 minutes in their opening 4-1 victory over Paraguay.
Another midfield option under consideration is Barcelona academy graduate Marc Casado, as per Mundo Deportivo. United initially enquired about the player in January and remain in contact with his representative, Jorge Mendes. While Casado reportedly prefers a move to Atletico Madrid, a transfer has not yet been sanctioned by Diego Simeone, potentially opening a window for United.
In a separate development, former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has secured a minor victory over Barcelona. As technical director of Twente, Ten Hag successfully convinced young defender Ruud Nijstad to sign a new contract until 2029, fending off interest from the Catalan club. This is seen as a small measure of retribution for the failed pursuit of Frenkie de Jong in 2022, a transfer that ultimately led to the acquisition of Casemiro.
The pursuit of defensive reinforcements and midfield depth reflects United’s ongoing efforts to reshape their squad under their current management, aiming to build a team capable of consistently challenging for major honours.
