Manchester United have identified Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as a ‘dream’ transfer target this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. The club are hoping to bolster their midfield options during the transfer window, with INEOS prioritizing strengthening that area of the pitch.
Romano stated that Tchouameni is a player United “love” and believe could replicate the impact of Casemiro at Old Trafford. However, he also cautioned that Real Madrid are currently unwilling to sell the French international, who is on a significant salary. BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone has suggested the pursuit mirrors United’s previous successful acquisition of Casemiro from Real Madrid.
Tchouameni, 24, joined Real Madrid from Monaco in 2022 for a reported fee of €80 million. He has become a regular in the Real Madrid squad, making 41 appearances across all competitions last season. While a key player for Carlo Ancelotti, the possibility of a move to the Premier League has emerged, with reports suggesting Real Madrid may be more open to offers than previously indicated.
United’s interest in Tchouameni comes alongside a pursuit of West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes, though they now face competition from Tottenham Hotspur. Sources have confirmed to TransfersDaily that Spurs have joined the race for the Portuguese midfielder, with Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival at the club potentially proving a significant factor in attracting Fernandes. United believe Fernandes is keen on a move to Old Trafford, citing his admiration for Bruno Fernandes, but Tottenham’s offer could prove difficult to match.
United are also exploring options in attack, with Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray identified as their ‘dream’ forward target, though his €150 million price tag may prove prohibitive. Alternatives being considered include Robert Lewandowski, Dusan Vlahovic, Eli Junior Kroupi and Jean-Philippe Mateta. The club are aiming to sign two midfielders, a striker, a left-back and a centre-half this summer, potentially adding a right-back and goalkeeper depending on player sales and available funds.
