Manchester United are intensifying their efforts to sign Atalanta midfielder Éderson as they seek a replacement for Casemiro, who will depart Old Trafford at the end of his contract in June. The club is reportedly preparing a contract offer for the Brazilian international that would run until 2031, according to transfer expert Nicolo Schira.
Casemiro’s confirmed departure and the anticipated sale of Manuel Ugarte have created a significant void in United’s midfield, prompting the club to explore several options. While Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest remains their primary target, his €120 million asking price presents a substantial obstacle, forcing United to consider alternatives such as Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, and now Éderson.
Éderson, 26, has been a long-term target for United, with the club repeatedly expressing interest in his signature in recent transfer windows. He has made 39 appearances for Atalanta across all competitions this season, establishing himself as a key player in Serie A. Atalanta are reportedly willing to sell Éderson this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2027.
Atalanta are seeking a fee of €45 million for Éderson, slightly above his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €35.8 million. United’s willingness to meet this valuation signals their determination to secure Éderson as their first major signing of the summer transfer window. Beyond midfield reinforcements, the club also intends to pursue a new left-back and left winger as they prepare for their return to the Champions League.
