Manchester United have indicated their willingness to submit a formal offer for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to Tuttomercatoweb. The 26-year-old, who celebrated his birthday on Friday, is reportedly seeking a departure from Newcastle this summer, though a return to Italy is his preference.
However, a move back to Serie A, particularly to clubs like Juventus, appears financially unfeasible, with Newcastle demanding a fee of at least €80 million for Tonali, alongside a substantial wage package. This has led the player to consider options within the Premier League, where United have expressed their interest.
In separate news, Liverpool’s reported €40 million bid for RB Leipzig midfielder Assan Ouedraogo has been dismissed by the Bundesliga club, as reported by BILD. Leipzig have “no intention” of selling the Germany international, believing his potential value could easily double in the future. Ouedraogo has struggled with injuries during his time at Leipzig, and the club hopes he will be able to establish himself as a key player with a full season of fitness.
Arsenal may also be open to selling Ethan Nwaneri this summer for a fee of €46 million, according to CaughtOffside. The 19-year-old has faced difficulties both with Arsenal’s first team and during his loan spell at Marseille, leading to speculation about a potential sale. Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund previously expressed interest in Nwaneri last summer.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also reportedly made initial contact regarding Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol, as stated by TEAMtalk. Despite Gvardiol’s recent €90 million move to City, both clubs are seeking a left-sided defender and have begun discussions with his representatives. City are currently confident of retaining the Croatia international and are prepared to offer him improved contract terms. Manchester United are continuing to monitor Elche defender David Affengruber, as reported by Sky Germany, with a potential move contingent on the fitness of Matthijs de Ligt.
