Manchester United are considering both Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin and Fulham’s Sander Berge as potential third additions to their midfield this summer, according to reports. Director of football Jason Wilcox is reportedly a fan of Raskin, while the club are also exploring a deal for Berge, who could be available for under £40 million.
United have already secured the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this week, spending a combined £85 million to bolster their midfield options. However, manager Michael Carrick is believed to want further reinforcement to ensure squad depth for challenges on multiple fronts next season. Initial pursuits of Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali proved unsuccessful due to pricing.
Raskin, 25, has impressed since joining Rangers from Standard Liège in January 2023, making 145 appearances for the Scottish club. He has also garnered attention from several other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Aston Villa, with scouts monitoring his performances over the past 18 months. Rangers are currently seeking around £25.5 million for the player, acknowledging that this summer represents the optimal time to capitalize on his value.
Alongside Raskin, United are also showing strong interest in Sander Berge. The 28-year-old Norwegian international impressed in the Premier League with Fulham last season and at the recent World Cup, establishing himself as a commanding presence in midfield. Sources indicate that United view Berge as a more attainable option than some other targets, with a potential price tag of less than £40 million. The club has already established contact regarding a potential deal.
Other midfielders previously linked with a move to Old Trafford include Carlos Baleba, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Felix Nmecha, Adam Wharton, Alex Scott, Tyler Adams, and Eduard Camavinga. The pursuit of Nmecha remains active, while reports suggest Camavinga has decided against a move to Manchester. The addition of either Raskin or Berge would further strengthen United’s midfield ahead of the upcoming season.
