Manchester United and Arsenal are both monitoring Brentford striker Igor Thiago, with the Gunners potentially needing to sell Gabriel Jesus to finance a move for the Brazilian forward. According to Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte, both clubs have expressed interest in the 24-year-old, who enjoyed a breakout season in the Premier League.
Thiago established himself as a key player for Brentford, scoring an impressive 22 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions. This form earned him a place in Brazil’s recent World Cup squad and has subsequently attracted attention from top clubs in England. United are reportedly evaluating whether to submit a bid for the player, who is valued at around €80 million (£69 million).
United’s pursuit of Thiago comes as they seek to bolster their attacking options following Rasmus Hojlund’s permanent transfer to Napoli and with Joshua Zirkzee also available for sale. While central midfield remains a priority, the club is also looking for competition and cover for Benjamin Sesko. Arsenal, meanwhile, are considering Thiago as a potential replacement for Gabriel Jesus, with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres also options for the forward line.
In addition to the interest in Thiago, Manchester United are also reportedly pursuing a double deal for Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville from West Ham. Fabrizio Romano stated that United are making an ‘aggressive’ push for Fernandes, with the club actively engaged in talks with both the player’s agent and West Ham. They are also continuing to monitor Summerville’s situation.
Furthermore, United are also in the mix for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, with the 25-year-old open to a return to England. Intermediaries are exploring potential moves for Nmecha, who is valued at £50 million, and United are among a host of clubs – including Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and several European giants – who have been approached about a possible transfer.
