Botafogo’s decision to postpone the sale of midfielder Danilo until after the World Cup has resulted in a diminished valuation of the player, according to O Dia. The Brazil international has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly monitoring his situation.
Botafogo had hoped that a strong showing from Danilo in the tournament would increase his market value, however, he saw limited playing time as Brazil were eliminated in the round of 16. This has led to a situation where the club now believes they will receive a fee “lower than expected” should he move to Europe this summer. Danilo previously had a spell in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, but is reportedly keen on securing a move back.
In Italy, a surprising development has emerged in the pursuit of Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah. According to Fabrizio Romano, Como have informed Inter Milan that they are withdrawing from the race to sign the England international. Como had previously submitted a bid for Chalobah, but will now allow Inter to pursue the player without competition, as the player himself is believed to favour a move to the Nerazzurri.
Further afield, several European clubs are showing interest in Colorado Rapids centre-back Lucas Herrington. TEAMtalk reports that intermediaries representing the 18-year-old Australian are in discussions with multiple clubs, including Barcelona, who recently had a bid rejected. Liverpool and Manchester United are also monitoring Herrington’s development, impressed by his performances for Australia during the World Cup.
Manchester United have also renewed their interest in Borussia Dortmund right-back Julian Ryerson, as reported by BILD. Ryerson enjoyed a productive season with Dortmund, providing 18 assists, and United are again in contact with his representatives, with the German club valuing him at €30 million. PSG are attempting to move on Randal Kolo Muani after failing to agree a deal with Juventus, offering him to clubs across Europe.
