Manchester United have registered their interest in Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, who will be a free agent this summer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Senesi will depart the Cherries after four seasons with the club, having joined from Feyenoord in 2022 for a reported €15 million. He has become a key player in the Premier League, consistently delivering strong performances for Bournemouth.
This season, Senesi has statistically been the league’s top performing centre-back, according to data analytics firm SciSports. His passing range and accuracy are particularly noteworthy for a defender, leading the Premier League in long passes, direct passes, and passes into the final third. He is known as an elite, front-footed defender.
While Senesi has reportedly agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur, that deal is contingent on Spurs maintaining their Premier League status. With their position in the league not entirely secure, other clubs are now exploring a move for the 29-year-old Argentina international.
Manchester United’s interest is reportedly dependent on the fitness of Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez. De Ligt has been sidelined since November with a back injury, though he has returned to training with the squad. The Red Devils may only pursue Senesi if concerns over both centre-backs persist. Liverpool have also expressed interest, but are currently hesitant due to ongoing contract negotiations with Ibrahima Konate, which are reportedly at an impasse according to David Ornstein.
Securing Senesi on a free transfer would represent a significant coup for any club, given his recent form and statistical dominance in the Premier League. His arrival would add quality and depth to any defensive line.
