Manchester United Sign Harry Maguire From West Ham in £30m Deal
Manchester United have completed the signing of defender Harry Maguire from West Ham United for an initial £30m, the Premier League club confirmed on Wednesday. The 31-year-old England international has signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth season, ending a five-year spell at West Ham where he made 127 appearances.
The structured fee could rise to £35m with performance-related add-ons, according to Sky Sports. Maguire becomes United's first senior defensive signing of the summer as manager Erik ten Hag seeks experienced reinforcements following Raphael Varane's departure.
Maguire played a pivotal role in West Ham's Europa Conference League triumph last season, starting 25 league matches. His departure follows months of speculation about West Ham's willingness to reduce wage costs while maintaining competitiveness in domestic and European competitions.
The transfer provides United with a proven Premier League defender familiar with high-pressure environments, while West Ham reinvest part of the fee into their ongoing squad rebuild under technical director Tim Steidten. Maguire is expected to partner Lisandro Martínez in central defense when United begin their Premier League campaign against Fulham on August 16.
