Manchester City have firmly rejected transfer enquiries from several top European clubs for defender Ruben Dias, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea, according to TEAMtalk. The Portuguese centre-back has been declared unavailable for transfer by the Premier League champions.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea all explored the possibility of signing Dias this summer, but City responded with a consistent message to all interested parties: he is not for sale. The club’s stance remains unchanged despite the recent arrival of new head coach Enzo Maresca.
Dias signed a new long-term contract with Manchester City in 2025 and is considered a foundational player for the club’s future under Maresca. The 29-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s premier central defenders since joining from Benfica in 2020.
Madrid initially made contact, continuing their search for a marquee centre-back despite already securing Ibrahima Konate earlier in the window. However, they were informed that City would not entertain any offers for Dias, prompting them to focus on alternatives such as Alessandro Bastoni of Inter Milan and Nico Schlotterbeck of Borussia Dortmund.
Barcelona and Chelsea also made enquiries about the player last month as they looked to strengthen their own defensive lines, but received the same firm response from City. Arsenal were also reported to be monitoring the situation. City view Dias as integral to Maresca’s plans and a key leader within the squad.
With a long-term contract and the club’s complete faith in his leadership, Dias is expected to remain a central figure as Maresca builds his team. This decisive stance from Manchester City indicates a commitment to retaining key players despite the change in management, signalling a period of stability as they aim to continue their dominance in English football.
