Olympique de Marseille are in advanced talks to sign Sacha Lung from Strasbourg this summer, according to L’Équipe. The 18-year-old defender, who has spent his entire career with the Alsatian club since joining their youth setup in 2015, has rejected contract offers from Strasbourg and is set to move elsewhere as he seeks professional opportunities. Lung has represented France at under-18 level, earning two caps, and has regularly trained with the Strasbourg first team this season.
Strasbourg reportedly preferred to offer a professional contract to fellow youth player Yoann Becker, leading Lung to explore options with other clubs. L’Équipe reports that Lung has “three serious pistes” for his future, with two of those opportunities coming from clubs outside of France. Marseille emerged as a potential destination in recent days, as the club looks to rebuild during a crucial offseason.
Marseille are facing a period of uncertainty heading into next season, having missed out on Champions League qualification and potentially facing exclusion from the Europa League due to financial concerns. The club is therefore focusing on developing young talent and has identified Lung as a promising addition to their squad. While discussions are progressing, no agreement has yet been reached or signed between Marseille and the player.
Lung is a right-footed central defender who has demonstrated potential during his time in Strasbourg’s academy. His decision to seek a new club highlights his ambition to progress quickly in his professional career, and Marseille could offer him a pathway to regular first-team football. The move would represent a significant step for the young defender as he leaves his hometown club and region for the first time.
