Emmanuel Mbemba is set to join Paris FC after deciding not to sign a professional contract with Paris Saint-Germain, according to L’Équipe. The 18-year-old defender, who can play as a centre-back or left-back, was a key figure in PSG’s youth setup, notably captaining the team to victory in the Coupe Gambardella final against Montpellier on May 22nd.
Mbemba had been linked with a move to Monaco, but ultimately chose to remain in Paris with the PFC. He has also attracted interest from several prominent European clubs, including Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen, demonstrating his potential on the international stage. The defender has represented France at the under-16 level and was a finalist in the recent UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
The transfer will see Mbemba sign a four-year contract with Paris FC, pending a successful medical examination scheduled for Wednesday. He will undergo the medical alongside Italian defender Diego Coppola, who previously spent time on loan with the club. This move represents a significant opportunity for Mbemba to gain regular first-team experience and continue his development within Ligue 1.
Paris FC are clearly investing in their squad ahead of the new season, having recently resumed training. They are scheduled to play their first friendly match against Stade de Reims on Saturday. The club also reportedly made a €23 million offer for Abline, indicating an ambitious approach to the transfer window. Mbemba’s arrival adds further depth and quality to their defensive options, potentially solidifying their position in the league.
