Henrikh Mkhitaryan has extended his contract with Inter Milan until June 30, 2027, the club announced on Tuesday. The agreement comes amid a period of significant squad turnover at the San Siro, with Yann Sommer, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij, and Matteo Darmian all departing following the expiration of their contracts.
Inter appears to be prioritizing squad rejuvenation, but have chosen to retain the experienced Armenian midfielder. Mkhitaryan will continue to be available for manager Cristian Chivu next season. The news arrives on a difficult day for the club, as defender Alessandro Bastoni has been registered as under investigation regarding alleged involvement in a case of juvenile prostitution, according to Italian news reports.
Mkhitaryan, who will turn 38 in January, joined Inter in the summer of 2022 after his contract with Roma expired. Since then, he has made 187 appearances for the Nerazzurri, scoring 12 goals and providing 21 assists. In the recently concluded Serie A season, Mkhitaryan contributed 4 goals and 2 assists in 30 matches.
During his time at Inter, Mkhitaryan has secured two Serie A titles (2023/24 and 2025/26), two Coppa Italia trophies, and two Italian Super Cups. The extension rewards Mkhitaryan’s consistent performances and experience within the squad, providing continuity as Inter navigate a period of transition. His continued presence offers tactical flexibility and leadership in midfield, solidifying Inter’s ambitions to remain competitive both domestically and in Europe.
