Manchester City have announced the signing of Jeremy Monga from Leicester City for a fee of €11.7 million, while Atletico Madrid secured the services of Morten Hjulmand from Sporting CP for €40 million on Thursday, July 11th.
The arrival of Monga at the Etihad Stadium adds another promising talent to Pep Guardiola’s squad. The young player joins City as they look to maintain their dominance in the Premier League, having already brought in Elliot Anderson and Mathys Detourbet this summer. Monga, a highly-rated prospect from Leicester, will aim to break into the first team and contribute to City’s attacking options.
Atletico Madrid’s acquisition of Hjulmand bolsters their midfield ahead of the new La Liga season. The Danish midfielder arrives from Sporting CP with a reputation for his passing range and defensive work rate. Diego Simeone will be hoping Hjulmand can provide stability and creativity in the centre of the pitch.
Elsewhere in Europe, Gideon Mensah completed a free transfer from Auxerre to Koln, while Haris Tabakovic moved from Hoffenheim to RB Salzburg for €5 million. Wolves have also added Rafiki Said from Standard Liege for a reported €10 million fee. Cammy Devlin made a free transfer to Rangers from Hearts.
Tottenham Hotspur continue to be the most active club in the Premier League, having already spent over €260 million on six players including Jan Paul van Hecke. Chelsea have also been busy, adding Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, Dastan Satpaev and Denner to their ranks, while also selling Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid and Tyrique George to Everton. Real Madrid have also secured the signatures of Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries.
Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks with Newcastle United for Bruno Guimaraes and Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers. Barcelona have completed a significant deal, bringing in Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for €80 million. Bayern Munich have added Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt, and AC Milan have signed Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain.
