Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Gabriel Moscardo has joined Espanyol on a season-long loan, the club confirmed on Tuesday. The 20-year-old Brazilian will spend the 2024-2025 campaign with the La Liga side, with the agreement not including an option to buy.
Moscardo arrived at PSG from Corinthians in January 2024 for a reported fee of €20 million, but has yet to make a competitive appearance for the French champions. His time since the transfer has been spent gaining experience through loan spells in Europe, initially with Reims in Ligue 1 and then with Braga in Portugal.
At Reims, Moscardo featured in 10 matches and scored one goal, though his time in France was hampered by a series of injuries. He enjoyed a more productive spell with Braga, where he made 39 appearances across all competitions, also scoring once. His contract with PSG currently runs until 2028.
The move to Espanyol offers Moscardo the opportunity to further develop his game in a different European league and potentially earn more consistent playing time. Espanyol will be hoping the young Brazilian can bolster their midfield options as they navigate the upcoming La Liga season. The loan represents a continued strategy from PSG to provide development opportunities for promising young players outside of their first team.
