Jose Mourinho has submitted a detailed transfer report to Real Madrid outlining targets for a potential summer overhaul, despite uncertainty surrounding his appointment as the club’s next manager. The Portuguese’s return to the Bernabeu is contingent on Florentino Perez winning the club’s presidential election on June 7th, but the club is keen to progress transfer plans regardless of the outcome.
Mourinho reportedly secured a significant say in transfer dealings as a condition of his return, and is seeking to strengthen multiple areas of the squad. According to AS, the 63-year-old is prioritizing recruitment at right-back, left-back, central defence – with at least one addition – and in central midfield, potentially adding two players in that position.
Cadena COPE has identified three players as key targets for president Perez: Benfica midfielder Joao Neves, Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, and Osasuna’s Victor Munoz. Munoz represents the most straightforward deal, with Real Madrid holding an €8 million buyback clause after selling the player to Osasuna last summer for €5 million.
Bastoni is also considered a viable target, with Inter reportedly open to offers for the Italy international, previously linked with Barcelona. Inter’s current valuation stands at €70 million, aligning with the defender's Estimated Transfer Value (ETV). However, acquiring Joao Neves from Paris Saint-Germain appears far more challenging, as the Champions League winners have given no indication they are willing to sell the 21-year-old, who is under contract until 2029 and a key player for Luis Enrique.
Real Madrid’s pursuit of five or six players based on Mourinho’s shortlist is expected to exceed €200 million. Such significant investment would be required to revitalize the squad following a disappointing season and return the club to title contention.
