Napoli have completed the permanent signing of Alisson Santos from Sporting Portugal, the club confirmed on Friday. The Brazilian forward, who joined the Serie A side on loan in January with an option to buy, has penned a deal with the Naples club, though the length of the contract has not been disclosed. Italian press report the transfer fee to be around €20 million.
Santos arrived at Napoli mid-season to bolster their attacking options and quickly made an impact, featuring in fifteen matches for the Partenopei. During his time as a loanee, the 23-year-old scored four goals, earning praise from the club who described his performances as “of a very high level” in their official announcement. He will now be integrated into the squad on a full-time basis.
The move represents a successful outcome for both player and club, with Napoli securing a promising young talent and Santos gaining a permanent foothold in one of Europe’s top five leagues. Prior to his loan spell in Italy, Santos developed through the ranks at Sporting Portugal, making a number of appearances for their first team before seeking more consistent playing time elsewhere. He has also represented Brazil at youth levels.
Napoli are currently in a period of transition, having recently parted ways with manager Antonio Conte. The club are reportedly in advanced talks with Massimiliano Allegri to take over in the dugout ahead of next season, meaning Santos will need to adapt to a new tactical approach. The permanent acquisition of Santos provides a degree of stability within the squad as the club prepares for a new era, and offers a versatile attacking option for the incoming manager. This signing strengthens Napoli’s forward line as they look to compete at the top of Serie A.
