Newcastle United have made contact with Juventus regarding a potential move for striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, as cited by Sport Witness. The 26-year-old is set to be available on a free transfer as his contract with the Turin club expires at the end of the current campaign.
Newcastle have identified a centre-forward as a priority signing following the underwhelming impact of Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa since their arrivals last summer, with both failing to adequately replace Alexander Isak’s goal threat. Vlahovic has scored 118 goals in 301 senior appearances, demonstrating a consistent record at a high level since joining Juventus in 2022.
Despite Juventus attempting to negotiate an extension, they are reportedly hesitant to meet Vlahovic’s demands for a substantial wage increase, a signing-on bonus, and commission for his agent. This impasse has alerted several other clubs across Europe, including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid, though none have yet made concrete offers.
Chelsea have also been heavily linked with Vlahovic, with TEAMtalk insider Fraser Fletcher reporting in February that they were considered favourites for his signature a few months ago and remain interested. The potential arrival of Vlahovic could impact the future of Chelsea’s Liam Delap, who is expected to depart Stamford Bridge. Tottenham Hotspur’s interest is contingent on avoiding relegation, currently sitting just above the Premier League drop zone.
Eddie Howe’s side will likely face competition from multiple clubs for Vlahovic’s signature, and it remains to be seen whether they will submit a formal contract offer. The move could also have implications for the futures of current Newcastle strikers Woltemade and Wissa.
